Our Manure Services & Trucking... (Printer Version)

Recently, Kevin decided that he wanted to provide a manure removal service after seeing these monsterous piles at barns and hearing how the county was starting to crack down on pollution from them. So he launched Finta Trucking. Now, not only do we take care of what goes into your horse we also take care of what comes out.
Due to the overwhelming inquiry from small horse facilities and backyard horse owners we are currently implementing a new manure removal program. We are offering a weekly pick up service utilizing a small and compact 2 yard bin, versus the 30+ yard bins which we currently use for larger volume facilities. The bins measure 6 feet long by 3 feet wide by 3 feet tall. They are also equipped with a sturdy plastic lid to reduce any odor, fly or water issues. The small size of the bins allows them to easily be moved around with a forklift or forklift attachment on your tractor yet big enough to be able to dump a tractor bucket of manure directly into them.
For those of you who only have a few yards of manure to be hauled off on a consistent basis, this would be the solution to having to pile your manure until you have enough to make a full load. It also will provide an economical and safe means of disposal that you don't have to worry about. A wonderful side benefit to the frequent removal is that it will help to reduce the fly population on your property immensely. This means less fly spray, lotions and ointments along with less annoyance for your horse and you.
Currently we are putting together a list of people who would be interested in this service so that we can get our routes down. Please give us a call as soon as possible to put your name down and for more information, such as rates.

Our manure removal service is like no other. We offer affordable rates and top notch service to quickly clean up your existing pile and get you on a maintenance plan. The advantages to not having a pile around are both cost effective and esthetically appealing. A manure pile is a huge source of flies. Flies are not only annoying, but they spread many diseases such as strangles and pigeon fever. They can also drive some horses so crazy that they lose weight or even injure themselves by stomping, biting and kicking to get away from them. There are some types of flies that will literally eat a horse's legs and belly raw or make their eyes so irritated that they become swollen and painful. This only means you spend more money paying for extra feed, fly spray or vet bills. No fly program can work effectively if you don't get rid of the source.
For many horse owners and stables today they have non-horsey neighbors either next door or quickly approaching. To them the smell of horse manure isn't a good smell especially on our 90+ degree days. To avoid conflicts the best thing to do is keep up on a good manure removal program. Another bonus is just how much nicer your place will look without a huge pile of horse poop.
We offer basically three options of removal. We have options that will work whether you only have 1 horse and only need 2 pick ups per year or you have a barn of 200 horses and need a pick up every day.

The first is a clean up for those with an existing pile. For small jobs we have a rubber track skid steer with a 1 yard bucket that we will bring, or if you have a tractor we can use that. For bigger jobs we have a loader. The loader works well for jobs that require an end dump trailer since most small tractors can't reach that high. For a clean up we usually bring a 35 yard box on our roll-off truck. If the manure is heavier than usual due to excess moisture or use of wood pellets as a bedding we will bring in an end dump trailer pulled by our Peterbilt semi. Clean up jobs are always quoted and are usually at a discount rate.

The second option is called a stand-by box. Our driver will bring the truck with a 35 yard box, and the skid steer if needed, and will set the box down. He will either load the box himself or someone with a tractor can load for us. Our rate for this type of pick-up is based on 1 hour of loading time. Anything over an hour is an extra charge. Our experience is that a 35 yard box can be loaded in 20-30 minutes by a skilled tractor driver. The driver will then pick up the box with the truck and haul the manure away. It's that simple. This option is the most widely used once the initial pile is cleaned up. Frequency of removal needed varies depending on how many horses you have and how the stalls are cleaned.
The last option is to have a box left on site. We charge a daily rental fee for the box and a fee for drop off and pick up.
If you have a large amount of horses, meaning 50 horses or more, then we will leave a box on site without a rental fee. Those boxes will require pick ups of once or more a week. We will give a special rate for frequent pick ups.

If you are trying to figure out how much manure you have to haul out or how much your horses produce in a day, use this formula:
One horse produces 50 pounds of manure in a day on the average. When stalled that number doubles due to urine soaked bedding along with bedding that is also removed. Each day it can be safely said that 1 horse will have 100 pounds of manure, urine and bedding to contribute to your manure pile. Multiply that number by how many horses you have. Then multiply that number by how many days you have been piling and that's how much manure you have to haul off. For example: If you have 10 horses and you keep them in stalls bedded with shavings and have been piling for the last 2 months then your formula would be:

100 lbs X 10 horses X 60 days
100 X 10 X 60 = 60,000 lbs.

Divide the number of lbs by 2,000 to come up with the total number of tons. In this case it would be 30 tons.

Our 35 yard drop box holds about 12 tons. Our end dump trailer can take up to 25 tons. Volume is always the deciding factor on how much to put in. Once the box is full it's full.
For your specific situation please call us so we can decide what the best scenario would be both economically and time wise.
